Alumni Sports Hall of Fame Recipients

Reggie Hunt

   During his high school career at DHS, Reggie was one of the best football players during the mid- 1990s. His leadership on the field and off helped shape the expectations of what excellence looks like for Denison football. He earned many awards and set many records during his time at DHS.

   A list of some of his accomplishments during high school include: 1993, All District free safety for DHS Varsity; 1994, DHS Varsity running back and free safety, DHS defensive player of the year, first team All-District running back, first team All-District free safety, All Texomaland Player of the Year. In 1995, he was DHS varsity running back and free safety and still holds the DHS record making 40 touchdowns and 2000 yards rushing, DHS MVP, 7-4A District Player of the Year, All-Texomaland Player of the Year, All-State running back, All State free safety, Texas Class 4-A Player of the Year, captain of the McDonald All-Star football team and the Texas Fab 55. His senior year at DHS he also won the Most Athletic Award.

   Upon graduation Reggie continued his athletic career at Texas Christian University, serving at TCU’s defensive captain, he still owns TCU’s kickoff return record, averaging 34.1 yards per return and has over 270 tackles to his credit. He earned all conference honors as both a junior and senior at TCU.

Reggie finished his career playing in the Canadian Football League for 10 years, earning many awards and being inducted into its Hall of Fame.
